Help Lake Haven Help Animals...

Volunteer!

Lake Haven is run by the kindness, hard work and dedication of its nearly 100 volunteers.  Volunteering is a great way to earn class credit, add a skill to your resume, build character and give back to the community.  We are always looking for the right volunteers to perform a variety of tasks.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must volunteer with you.

Volunteering opportunities are available in the following areas:

In Newaygo

Grandville PetSmart

  • Laundry (job description!)

  • Saturday Adoption Days assistance (designated Saturdays at the Grandville PetSmart - primarily dogs) (job description!)

  • Cat Care (cleaning cages/feeding/t.l.c./adoption assistance – weeknights/weekends at the Grandville PetSmart) (job description!)

Various Opportunities Throughout Service Area

  • Animal transport (job description!)

  • Temporary foster care - CATS and/or DOGS (in your home) (job description!)

  • Fostering Puppies – If you’re willing to foster a few puppies we can use your help. We have many work-at-home moms who foster for the experience it gives their kids. If you would like to help in this area you can read more on our Fostering Responsibilities for Puppies page.

Special Events

  • Pet Photos with Santa Fundraiser (at PetSmart in December)

  • Other special events as needed.

Support No-Kill Animal Shelters  Lake Haven believes that the "No-Kill" approach to ending the unnecessary killing of dogs and cats is a sound approach. Unfortunately, most people do not know that most of the largest animal support organization in this country ignore the successes of "No-Kill" shelters and continue to destroy adoptable animals. How is the money you donate being used by these organizations?

Please Contact Your Congressman  You can help to put an end to pound seizure and inhumane euthanasia in Michigan. Please help.

Donations By Check
Funding is needed in order to provide medical care (including spaying/neutering), housing, food and transportation needs.  You may designate your donation to the general fund or our
Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program.

  • General Fund.  Funding provides food, material supplies, medical supplies and shelter.

  • Low-Cost Spay Neuter Program.  Funding provides low cost spay/neuter services to those who otherwise could not afford it.

Checks made payable to Lake Haven can be mailed to:

Lake Haven

551 Pickerel Lake Dr.

Newaygo, MI 49337

DID YOU KNOW:  All of our support at Lake Haven comes from donors and volunteers. This includes the director of Lake Haven who receives no income for animal rescue. Because Lake Haven is an all volunteer organization, operating from a donated shelter building and foster homes, 100% of all donations received benefit the animals themselves.

HOW IS THE DONATION MONEY USED:  All donations collected go into the general animal rescue fund. This fund is the mainstay of our organization. It is how we pay for all medical expenses of animals that come into our program. It also pays for their food and comforts, heat and air conditioning. We also have a low-cost spay/neuter program for the public, but that is a separate fund not paid for by donations.
