Shelter Volunteer - Newaygo

Description:  Volunteers are needed at Lake Haven’s shelter in Newaygo.  This would involve the general care of cats and dogs, laundry, cleaning/sanitizing the shelter, dog walking, and running errands to local veterinarian offices and stores.  Volunteers at the shelter help keep the day-to-day shelter operating so that the animals are healthy and safe and can be prepped for adoption.

Requirements: Lake Haven volunteers must be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult volunteer.  We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least one shift per month.  Days and times are flexible.   You must be comfortable around cats and dogs.  Additional training will be provided.  Transportation to and from the Newaygo shelter is required.

Lake Haven is run by the kindness, hard work and dedication of its nearly 100 volunteers.  Volunteering is a great way to earn class credit, add a skill to your resume, build character and give back to the community.  We are always looking for the right volunteers to perform a variety of tasks.  If you are interested in any of our volunteer opportunities, please fill out our volunteer form at
